L-Serine
About L-Serine
L-serine is classified as a non essential amino acid. The body can synthesize sufficient amounts of L-serine to meet its daily needs.
Uses/Benefits
Recent research has shown that L-serine and products of its metabolism are essential for cell proliferation and specific functions of the central nervous system. The findings of altered levels of serine and glycine in patients with psychiatric disorders underscore the importance of L-serine in brain development and function.
Manufacturing
L-serine is manufactured by fermentation from carbohydrate sources. Ajinomoto uses vegetables as the carbohydrate source; no materials of animal origin are used in the production of L-serine or other Ajinomoto amino acids. L-serine is manufactured under cGMP conditions. L-serine meets USP and EP standards. A Drug Master File for L-serine is on record at the FDA.
