About L-Phenylalanine

L-phenylalanine is classified as an essential amino acid because the body requires a dietary source to meet its physiological demands. Dietary sources of L-phenylalanine are derived from animal and vegetable proteins and deficiencies are very rare.

Uses/Benefits

L-phenylalanine may be helpful in some populations with stress and depression. It is also used in the treatment of vitiligo.

Manufacturing

L-phenylalanine is manufactured by fermentation from carbohydrate sources. Ajinomoto uses vegetables as the carbohydrate source; no materials of animal origin are used in the manufacturing process. L-phenylalanine is manufactured under cGMP conditions. It meets USP, EP and JP standards. A Drug Master File is on record at the FDA.
