Manufacturing

L-dopa is manufactured by the enzymatic method from catechol and pyruvic acid or by chemical synthesis using vanillin as the starting material. L-dopa is manufactured by Ajinomoto under cGMP conditions. A Drug Master File for L-dopa is on record at the FDA. L-dopa meets USP and EP specifications.
