Dipeptide/Oligopeptides Production

Ajinomoto recently developed a powerful biopharmaceutical technology for the production of small peptides. The process uses fermentation to produce an enzyme that subsequently bonds single amino acids into di-, tri-, and oligopeptides.

Ajinomoto's newly discovered enzyme system possesses a number of significant advantages over existing industrial methods of creating dipeptides/oligopeptides:

  • Higher yields
  • Broad substrate specificity
  • Elimination of racemization separations
  • No need for the use of protected amino acid with costly deprotection steps

Oligopeptides Production

  • Oligopeptides can also be synthesized using amino acid esters as acyl donors and peptides as nucleophiles.
  • Most peptides tested as nucleophiles attacked the amino acid methyl esters well, producing excellent yields of the corresponding oligopeptides
